Planning and Design

The Planning and Design phase is the translation of the Functional Requirements into design specifications, and it establishes the roadmap for application development. Based on the Functional Requirements, the Detailed Design document typically details the following:

  • Architecture, outlining all the functional and technical elements
  • Test plan (i.e. testing scenarios and acceptance criteria for unit testing and integration testing)

Project and resource planning occurs alongside the development of the Detailed Design. The Implementation Plan, another deliverable in this phase, details timelines and milestones on a more granular level, as well as resource allocation associated with the project steps.
